A study of Sheffield film camera users

jj

l (Jen), dedicated some pages of this website to a project I started last year. Having worked here over 30 years, I worked through the original years of people using film cameras first time round. The world has changed so much since then, but these old film cameras are being used again by younger generations of people eager to explore film photography for the first time, second time around.

I was interested to explore all sorts of their films/methods/interests/attitudes, including the newer film emulsions such as films like Lomography, Washi, Flic, Cinestill, etc, as well as old-school Gold, Ilford, Polaroid, Infrared films, 126mm, half-frame, panoramic, 127mm etc.

This was NOT a 'best photo' competition; it was about you and your love for film photography. And it was just for local Sheffield dwellers at that time (whether indigenous or at Uni here/relocated here etc).

So I asked a few local film camera users if they would be willing to display some of their images on here, and answer some questions.

I would've liked to have had time to carry this on, and wish I'd started it earlier. There is a moral in this story then - stop procrastinating and just DO IT while you can!!

Hope you enjoy looking at these guys photos and stories! (PS: 'gis a job!)
